About Sarah

Sarah Hickman is a member of the corporate commercial law group at Himelfarb Proszanski. Sarah is principally engaged in the areas of corporate and commercial law and regularly acts on a broad range of corporate, commercial, and business law matters involving the purchase and sale of businesses in a variety of sectors and industries. She has experience with the preparation and review of documents relating to a variety of business transactions including acquisitions, mergers, and corporate restructuring and reorganization. Sarah frequently drafts and advises clients on a multiplicity of corporate commercial matters including shareholder agreements, asset, and share purchase agreements, share pledge agreements, joint venture agreements, partnership agreements, and security agreements. In addition to working with a broad range of private company clients, Sarah also works with emerging and established public companies in various industries including mining and hospitality. Sarah is familiar with conducting various public transactions in accordance with provincial regulators and applicable Exchange policies.

As part of her commercial practice, Sarah also often handles employment law-related matters both individually and in conjunction with the purchase and sale of businesses. In doing so, Sarah has acted for both employees and employers in termination-related matters as well as drafting and review of employment contracts and independent contractor agreements.

Prior to joining the firm, Sarah worked with a boutique real estate firm in her hometown of Whitby, Ontario. Sarah later obtained her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree with distinction from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology and subsequently earned her Juris Doctor degree from Queen’s University, where she worked as a caseworker with the Queen’s Business Law Clinic. Sarah was called to the Ontario Bar in 2019 after completing her articles with the firm.
